Description:
Featuring a combination of tidal ponds (with some of the best shorebird mud in the county on the right day), scrubby fields and edge habitat, and dense woods along the Patapsco River, the varied habitat at this portion of Patapsco Valley State Park has hosted more than 200 species, including a number of sought-after county rarities. Visits during fall migration have been particularly productive, for warblers, sparrows, shorebirds, and other migrants. Anticipate about 3 miles of walking on mostly flat terrain. Trails are mostly unpaved, and so may be muddy and slightly overgrown at places. Trip limited to 15; RSVP required.
