Wicomico’s newest county park is a great place to observe a variety of species and, with open habitat, it’s fairly easy to get a good look at most! This trip is a great one for beginners; we’ll take our time walking the 2 miles of paved trails, review birding basics, field marks, and song identification as we go. In mid-April, year-round residents and early migrants should be singing, making for enjoyable birding. Although aimed at beginners, this trip is open to all. Meet Mary at Schumaker Park parking lot at 7:30 a.m. or Ginny at the parking area at Pirates Wharf at 7:50am. Bring drinks and snacks, wear comfortable shoes.
