Description:

Visit the place J.J. Audubon called home for four years after he arrived here from France at age eighteen. It was here that he became captivated by the beauty and variety of the many birds around him and that the seed was planted for a lifetime of studying and painting these stunning winged creatures. Although best known for his brilliant and original images of birds, he is also the father of bird banding and the discoverer of chimney swallows’ winter roosting spots. He became the foremost ornithologist in America as he pursued his field studies as well as his painting techniques. The interactive museum is as interesting as the man with many displays and hands-on activities.
