Description:
Did you know Yellow-crowned night herons nest along the Jones Falls? This walk will focus on these annual city breeders, observing them as they build and tend their nests. We’ll start by looking along the stretch of river near the Streetcar Museum, then walk north along the Jones Falls Trail to Horseshoe Falls – another known breeding location. Along the way we’ll look for other year-round residents and early migrants. The path is flat and paved except for a short section down to Horseshoe Falls, which participants can opt out of, with a total distance of about 2 miles. Park at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum or along Falls Rd next to it.
