Field trip to Delaware Bayshore

May 29, 2022

Host:

Patuxent Bird Club & PGAS.

Leaders Fred and Jane Fallon (fwfallon@ymail.com).

Description:

Fred and Jane will take us to several areas along the Bay to see migrating shorebirds that mass to feed on Horseshoe Crab eggs. Be prepared for an all-day outing. Bring scope, lunch, snacks, water, insect repellent, and appropriate weather-related gear. We will meet at Bombay Hook Visitor Center parking lot (BH) by 9 AM. (Note that the driving time from Bowie is ~ 1 ½ hrs.) At BH, we will first bird around the Visitor Center to give a time cushion to arrivals. Those comfortable with driving to BH please so indicate in your reply to Fred. Then we will send out an email to all respondents. Those willing to take passenger(s) can “reply all” to that effect, and those desiring rides can respond directly to any or all. This way drivers and passengers can link up at places mutually agreeable. We’ll have lunch (BYO) at Bombay Hook ~ noon, and then proceed to other shore hot-spots to be determined by scouting and last-minute reports. There will be opportunity for some land birding too. Departures can be mutually arranged between drivers and passengers as the day progresses.” Be aware of the toll at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge; the bridge no longer has cash toll lanes and all tolls are collected through EZPass or Video Tolling. Reservations required; email Fred at fwfallon@ymail.com.
