Explore Birding Sites by Habitat
Maryland contains a large diversity of habitats including grassy fields; shrubby meadows; deciduous and coniferous forests; freshwater and saltwater marshes; forested swamps; tidal mudflats; sandy beaches; rocky jetties, and man-made habitats such as dredged material containment facilities, lawns, and ballfields. Each habitat supports a particular assemblage of birds that depend on the foods available there.
We’ve made it easy to explore where the different habitats can be found. Click on a habitat below and then scroll down for links to birding sites with that habitat.
