Description:
Expect a variety of wintering birds in both upland and lowland hardwood forests dominated by Oaks and Tulip Poplars. Our route includes an impressive, biologically diverse ecosystem maintained for many years by Certified Weed Warriors; as of 2022, the Baltimore City Forestry Division also professionally manages it for conservation. Non-native invasive vegetation remains common, but native groundcover, shrubs, vines, and trees generally predominate. There are trees at all stages of development, including recent interior forest plantings; also natural springs and unique tributaries that feed Herring Run. Please come prepared for potential cold, ice, and some steep terrain. RSVP to Kim Tomko.
