Description:
75th Anniversary Covered Dish Dinner. We’ll celebrate BBC and MOS’s 75th Anniversary with a brief program and then introduce our main speaker, Hank Kaestner presenting “The Jewels of Ecuador.” Former Baltimore Bird Club president and renowned world birder Hank Kaestner will speak about two of his favorite subjects: birding in South America, and watching hummingbirds. This talk follows Hank as he transects Ecuador, from the tropical “Choco” habitat in the Pacific slope, up over the Andes, and down the eastern slope towards Amazonia. On the trip Hank saw nearly 400 species of birds, including many “jewels” (the hummingbirds). Photography is made easy by the hummingbird feeders that are at each of the eco-lodges along the way. Not only will you see many beautiful birds, but this talk will give you a real appreciation for what eco-tourism has meant to the locals and the environment.
