Description:
Wheaton Regional Park is popular with birders, with local fishermen and with families out for a walk or a picnic. Two years ago we started a once a year trash pick up and were surprised by the amount of stuff we collected. Last year it looked like the situation was better but more trash has been noticed, especially in the woods. Let’s repeat and make the place better, for the birds, for us, and for all visitors. Meet at the Shorefield parking lot, near the carousel, at 7:30 AM for a pre-cleanup birdwalk (leader to be announced) or at 9 AM for the cleanup. Bags, gloves, and grabbers will be provided. Rubber boots recommended. We’ll finish before noon but stay longer if you wish! Number of participants unlimited, but please sign up with the organizer, Evelyn Ralston.
