Description:
Overseen by Washington College, located just outside of Chestertown. The walk will focus around the 230-acre experimental grassland which is a hot spot for wintering sparrows both in species diversity and abundance. While searching for sparrows we’ll be on the lookout for migrating hawks, waterfowl and other songbirds as well. There are wide, mowed walking lanes throughout the grasslands and the length of the walk can be adjusted based on the needs of the group. The participants will meet at Royal Farms at the corner of rt 213 and rt 544 at 8 AM, about 1 ½-2 hours from the Baltimore area, before caravanning to the farm 5 minutes away. Trip will be limited to 15 people.
